[AG8tet] was Antoine Guenet's Artist in Residence project for 2012. As such it premiered during the Gentse Feesten on July 19, 2012.

It is a very special work on "the end of the world". The show is a collection of stories directly or indirectly related to that subject.
The idea is to put all these stories into simple songs that are then arranged into a double band line-up constantly hesitating between playing together or against each other.
On one side the “acoustic band” : Steven Delannoye (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet), Lieven Van Pee (double bass), and Simon Segers (drums) ; on the other the “electric one” : Joe Higham (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet, Dries Geusens (electric bass), and Stijn Cools (drums).

Those two rhythm sections (drums, bass, wind) are flown over by singer Susan Clynes and Antoine Guenet's piano, who always bring it all back together. The stories' themes go from the debate on procreation in our time (“Repopulation”) to the Afterlife (“Hallucination”), and are supported by a strong, disturbing mix of jazz, contemporary music, and songwriting. An exciting project carried by exciting musicians!
